1.08 – How Trauma Shows Up in School Settings: Trauma doesn’t stay at home; it walks with you into classrooms, hallways, and group projects. Loud noises, sudden touches, or strict tones can trigger reactions you don’t understand. You might zone out or lash out without meaning to. These aren’t signs of disrespect—they’re signs your body remembers danger. Understanding this helps you take control again. You can learn to notice when you’re triggered and use grounding tools to stay present. Teachers and counselors can support you when you explain what helps. Healing means teaching your nervous system that school can be safe again. You have a right to learn without fear. Your reactions make sense once your story is heard.
