26.13 – What to Do When Your Family Isn’t Supportive: Family rejection can feel like losing home while still living in it, leaving emotional wounds that take time to heal. Some families struggle to understand what they’ve never experienced or been taught to accept. Arguing rarely changes hearts overnight; instead, conserving your emotional energy matters most. Seek mentors or supportive adults who can fill the gaps left behind. Your chosen family—those who love you without condition—can become the strongest foundation of all. Sometimes distance is necessary to maintain mental safety, and that’s okay. Set boundaries with love but firmness, remembering that self-protection is not disrespect. You deserve peace even if it means redefining family on your own terms. Over time, some relatives may soften; others may not. What’s most important is that you continue thriving, because their acceptance is optional, but your self-worth is non-negotiable.
