30.24 – Creating a Coping Kit for Crisis Moments: A coping kit is like a first-aid box for your emotions. Fill it with items that ground you — a favorite scent, a stress ball, comforting music, a photo, or notes from loved ones. Include a list of emergency contacts and safe distractions you can use immediately. Keep it in a backpack or drawer so it’s easy to grab when distress hits. The goal is to interrupt self-harm urges before they escalate by engaging your senses and memory of care. Update the kit as your needs change; growth means new comforts appear. Using your kit isn’t childish — it’s strategic. It trains your brain to expect relief from safe things, not pain. Every time you reach for it, you prove that protection and comfort belong to you.
