30.27 – How to Hide the Tools, Not the Pain: Many people try to hide their tools — razors, lighters, blades — believing that keeping them out of sight makes the problem disappear. But healing begins when you hide the objects, not the feelings. Locking them away or giving them to someone safe removes temptation while showing commitment to safety. Yet, you must also replace what those tools once did for you. Build a list of grounding objects, creative outlets, or safe sensations that fill the same role without harm. Hiding pain only traps it; expressing it gives it shape and eventually, release. When you choose safety, you’re not pretending your urges don’t exist — you’re giving them new ways to be heard. The goal isn’t denial but redirection, turning pain into purpose through steady, caring choices that protect your future self.
