Lesson Overview

9.14 – When You Don’t Feel Safe Walking Home: Feeling unsafe while walking home can make even daylight feel tense. Every sound or shadow might set your heart racing because your brain is protecting you from potential harm. Planning ahead makes a difference—tell someone your route, walk with others when possible, and stay in well-lit areas. If fear rises, focus on steady breathing and keep your phone accessible. Choose songs or affirmations that remind you you’re alert but not powerless. Knowing how to project awareness without showing fear keeps you centered. After you arrive safely, give your body time to calm down before moving on with your day. That decompression teaches your brain the threat is over. With preparation and confidence, each safe return home strengthens your belief that you can protect yourself while staying calm and aware.
