16.17 – Creating a Safe Space for Big Emotions: Everyone needs a place where emotions can exist without judgment. A safe space doesn’t have to be fancy—it just has to feel secure and private. It might be a corner of your room, a favorite chair, or a playlist that helps you breathe easier. When you have a safe space, emotions stop feeling like enemies and start becoming visitors you can sit with. This kind of space tells your brain it’s allowed to feel, release, and reset without embarrassment. It becomes a training ground for self-regulation where you practice calmness even when things get hard. Over time, your body begins to associate that space with peace, making it easier to recover from emotional overload. It’s not about running away from feelings but meeting them in a place that supports healing. Building a safe emotional space also teaches you boundaries—what feels okay and what doesn’t. The more you honor that space, the more emotionally grounded you become, no matter where you are.
