2.15 – Creating a “Do Not Harm” Personal Contract: A “Do Not Harm” contract is a promise between you and yourself to choose safety. It turns a private goal into a written commitment. The act of writing gives your mind structure when emotions feel messy. Include what you agree to do instead of harm—call someone, use coping tools, or rest. Add signatures of trusted supporters if that brings accountability. Keep the contract somewhere visible as a daily reminder. It’s not about perfection; it’s about intention. When urges come, reading your own promise helps you pause before action. Each time you honor it, your brain rewires toward protection, not pain. Over time, the contract becomes more than paper—it becomes proof of growth. When broken, it’s not failure, it’s feedback to strengthen your plan. The goal is to keep choosing life, even when it hurts. You are learning loyalty to yourself, and that loyalty builds resilience stronger than any crisis.
