6.18 – When Your Parents Fight and It Scares You: Loud arguments between parents can feel like the world is breaking apart. Even if no one is physically hurt, the emotional noise can shake your sense of safety. Finding calm spaces—like music, reading, or stepping outside—helps you regulate your heart rate. Remind yourself you didn’t cause the fight, and it’s not your job to fix it. When fear builds, breathing slowly or squeezing something soft helps release tension. Talking with a counselor about what you hear reduces bottled-up anxiety. Creating signals with siblings for when to leave the room adds a layer of security. Over time, understanding that adults own their conflicts prevents you from internalizing their chaos. You deserve peace even when others lose control. Building inner calm becomes your shield against fear.
