6.26 – What If You Don’t Want to Go Back Home?: Feeling dread about returning home means something important—your instincts are warning you. Listen to that feeling. It might come from fear, sadness, or exhaustion. Start planning what safety and independence might look like, even in small steps. If you have no safe home to return to, contact youth shelters, school counselors, or crisis lines for guidance. Keep important items like ID, cash, and trusted contacts with you. Remind yourself that choosing safety over obligation isn’t betrayal—it’s self-respect. If family members guilt you for leaving, remember you’re protecting your well-being, not rejecting love. Create emotional anchors: people, places, or routines that remind you you’re not alone. You deserve peace, warmth, and respect. Not wanting to go back doesn’t make you ungrateful—it means you’re ready for a healthier start.
