17.15 – Identifying Allies on Campus: Allies are people who help you feel emotionally safe—teachers, coaches, secretaries, or even janitors who notice your mood and care. Recognizing them means paying attention to who listens when you speak and who respects your boundaries. Keep their names written somewhere so you remember them during hard days. You can build small trust moments—greetings, check-ins, or honest thank-yous—to strengthen those bonds. Allies often open doors to other supports you didn’t know existed. They also remind you that connection outweighs isolation. Even one ally can turn a bad day into a bearable one. The act of noticing who cares is a form of emotional intelligence that protects you long after graduation.
