21.12 – Coping With Tension, Jaw Clenching, and Muscle Pain Chronic tension often hides in places like your neck, shoulders, or jaw, where stress silently builds up. Many people don’t notice how tightly they’re holding their bodies until pain appears. Jaw clenching, for example, is a common sign of unspoken frustration or worry. Learning to release tension takes patience and body awareness. Start by scanning those muscles, then soften them through stretching, warmth, or slow breathing. Each exhale signals your nervous system to release control and allow rest. Movement, hydration, and mindful posture help reduce pressure before it becomes pain. The more often you notice tension, the faster you can interrupt it. Treat muscle care as emotional care too—because your body’s tightness often mirrors your mind’s. Over time, those small daily relaxations add up to less pain, more freedom, and calm that lasts.
