35.6 – Missing a Sibling You Barely Got to Know: Losing a sibling you barely knew can be confusing because you’re grieving both a person and the life you could have shared. You might imagine birthdays, jokes, or secrets that never got the chance to exist. People might not understand how deep that hurt goes because they assume you weren’t close. But grief doesn’t measure distance—it measures love, and sometimes that love grows stronger in what’s missing. You might find yourself talking to them in your thoughts or wondering who they’d be today. Healing means allowing those questions to exist without needing answers. You can honor their memory by living fully, carrying their name in small ways that matter. Missing someone you barely knew still counts as real love—it’s a promise that even short lives leave lasting echoes.
