16.22 – Crying Without Shame or Fear: Crying is one of the body’s oldest and healthiest release systems, yet many people feel embarrassed or weak when tears come. In reality, crying is your body’s way of resetting emotionally and physically. It lowers stress hormones, regulates breathing, and signals your nervous system that it’s safe to let go. Suppressing tears builds internal pressure that eventually shows up as irritability, headaches, or fatigue. Allowing yourself to cry without apology shows emotional maturity—it means you trust your body’s natural healing process. Some tears express grief, others express relief, and both are valid. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for needing to release emotion. If you feel uncomfortable crying around others, find a private space where you can do it freely. Crying doesn’t make you fragile; it makes you real. When you stop fearing tears, you open the door to self-compassion. It’s a reminder that feeling deeply is part of being alive, not something to hide.
