24.18 – How to Use Mindfulness to Fall Asleep: Falling asleep mindfully is about guiding the mind toward rest rather than forcing it. Start by focusing on slow breathing, feeling each inhale fill your chest and each exhale release tension. Let thoughts float by like passing cars without chasing them. If worries appear, thank them and let them fade. Scan your body from head to toe, relaxing muscles one area at a time. You can also count breaths backward from twenty to one, syncing with your heartbeat. This signals safety and allows your nervous system to downshift naturally. Mindfulness turns sleep from struggle into surrender—a process of easing, not escaping. Over time, your brain associates mindful presence with restfulness. Nights become calmer because your body learns that peace isn’t something to chase; it’s what arrives when you finally stop running.
