30.09 – When Thoughts Get Scary and You Can’t Shut Them Off: Intrusive thoughts can hit like a loop you can’t escape — repeating worst-case images, fears, or urges that feel impossible to silence. They can make you believe something is deeply wrong with you, but scary thoughts don’t equal dangerous actions. The mind sometimes repeats distressing ideas as a way to process chaos, not to act on it. Try labeling them for what they are: “These are thoughts, not commands.” That single shift gives you space to breathe before reacting. Then, engage your senses — hold something textured, count colors around you, or focus on your breathing rhythm. The goal isn’t to fight the thought but to ride the wave until it passes. Over time, noticing without judgment weakens their control. You are not your thoughts; you are the observer learning how to steady the storm inside.
