32.14 – Managing School While Your Family Is Evicted: Eviction is a kind of chaos that doesn’t stop at your doorstep—it follows you everywhere. It interrupts sleep, learning, and focus, making every day feel like survival. Teachers might not understand the pressure of pretending everything is okay when your mind is racing about where you’ll sleep next. You might feel embarrassed or angry, both valid reactions. What matters is not losing yourself in the storm. Communicate with trusted adults, and don’t carry the weight alone. Many schools have liaisons who can connect families to temporary housing or meal programs. Remember, eviction says nothing about your worth; it says everything about a system that fails too many families. Even in instability, showing up to class or finishing one assignment becomes an act of resistance—proof that you are still building a future even when life tries to break your foundation.
