21.25 – When You Numb Out Through Overeating or Undereating Sometimes emotional overload leads people to eat too much or too little as a form of control or comfort. These habits are the body’s way of coping with feelings that feel too heavy to face. Overeating can numb sadness or loneliness, while undereating can create a false sense of order. The key is to notice what emotion you’re avoiding rather than judging the behavior. Gentle awareness helps you reconnect hunger and emotion without shame. Balanced meals, mindful pauses, and emotional journaling rebuild that connection. Over time, your body learns that safety doesn’t depend on restriction or excess—it depends on care. Healing happens when food becomes nourishment again, not escape. By tuning into both physical and emotional hunger, you create harmony between your body’s needs and your heart’s healing.
