Lesson Overview

27.12 – When You Keep Reliving the Moment You Found Out: The instant you learned someone died can replay in vivid flashes—the words, the phone call, the silence afterward. Your body remembers shock like a bruise that won’t fade. These mental replays are your mind’s way of trying to process the unthinkable, rehearsing until it believes it really happened. It may appear suddenly, during class or at night, stealing your focus. Instead of fighting the memory, try grounding yourself in the present: breathe deeply, notice textures, name what you see. Over time the replay loses intensity, turning from a storm into a ripple. Sharing that moment with someone safe can reduce its grip; pain divided becomes pain eased. Healing isn’t forgetting the event but loosening its control. The memory remains, yet it no longer hijacks your peace. Gradually, life surrounds that moment with gentler ones until it no longer defines your every thought.
