13.06 – Consent: What It Is and What It Isn’t: Consent is not just a word—it’s a clear, ongoing agreement between people that can change at any time. It means both individuals actively choose to participate, without pressure, fear, or confusion. Silence, uncertainty, or being under the influence are never signs of consent. Real consent is enthusiastic, informed, and respected every single time. You have the right to stop, rethink, or change your mind without being questioned. Respecting boundaries keeps both people emotionally safe and builds real trust. Understanding consent also means recognizing power differences that could make someone feel pressured. Saying yes once doesn’t mean yes forever. The healthiest relationships are built on communication, not assumption, where both voices matter equally.
