25.01 – What Is Abuse? Understanding the Signs: Abuse happens when someone uses power to control, harm, or scare another person, and it can appear in many forms—physical, emotional, verbal, sexual, or digital. Sometimes it looks obvious, like hitting or yelling, but other times it hides behind manipulation, guilt, or silence. Recognizing abuse means noticing patterns, not just one bad day. It’s when your voice feels taken away, your boundaries are ignored, or love becomes conditional. Healthy relationships build confidence; abusive ones drain it. Knowing the signs helps you protect yourself and others. Learning to name abuse is the first step toward ending its control. No one deserves to live in fear or confusion. Awareness turns fear into clarity, and clarity opens the door to safety.
