Lesson Overview

1.17 – Creating Space Between Feeling and Reaction: The distance between what you feel and what you do next is where your power lives. When someone angers you or says something cruel, your first reaction might be to strike back. But reactions made in the heat of emotion often cause regret. Creating space means learning to pause—take a breath, count to five, walk away, or notice your heartbeat. That tiny moment lets your thinking brain take charge again. Over time, your mind learns that emotions can visit without taking control. You can still express anger, sadness, or fear without losing yourself in it. This is emotional intelligence in action—responding instead of reacting. It’s not about suppressing feelings; it’s about owning them. Every pause is a practice of self-control and strength.
