Lesson Overview

9.32 – Carrying the Weight of What You’ve Seen: Witnessing repeated violence—at school, online, or at home—can leave invisible scars. Your body carries that stress even when you act fine. It may show up as headaches, anger, exhaustion, or zoning out. You can’t erase what you saw, but you can release its grip. Start by recognizing that witnessing harm counts as trauma, too. Write about what you’ve seen or share it with someone trustworthy. Ground yourself in safe activities—exercise, art, or nature—to help your body let go of stored tension. Healing isn’t forgetting; it’s transforming pain into wisdom. As you unpack those memories, your nervous system learns peace again. You don’t have to carry every story alone. Setting down the weight doesn’t mean you don’t care—it means you care for yourself, too.
