Lesson Overview

6.08 – When You’re Afraid to Go Home: Fear of returning home can cause constant anxiety through the day. The sound of certain voices or footsteps may tighten your stomach instantly. Recognizing that fear as a real warning, not exaggeration, is essential for protection. Trust your instincts—they’re built for survival. If danger is present, identify safe spaces like a friend’s house, school office, or public library. Memorize emergency numbers and keep a backup plan you can reach quietly. Writing down what triggers your fear helps professionals understand your situation clearly. Know that reaching out to authorities or trusted adults doesn’t make you a traitor—it makes you brave. Staying silent only protects the problem, not you. Every small act toward safety—documenting incidents, telling someone, preparing exit routes—counts as strength. You are not alone; networks exist to shelter and guide you through fear toward freedom and stability.
