Lesson Overview

9.10 – You Survived. Now What?: Surviving a violent or traumatic event is the start of healing, not the end of your story. Your body may feel safe, but your mind might still replay fear or guilt. That’s the brain’s way of processing the shock. Recovery means teaching your body and mind that the danger has passed. Rest, nourishment, and small joys rebuild trust in life. Talking about your experience with someone safe can transform pain into meaning. You might notice anger, sadness, or numbness—all are natural. Healing isn’t about forgetting but learning to live fully again. You can honor what you went through without being trapped by it. Over time, your resilience becomes proof of strength, not scars. Each new sunrise can remind you that survival was just the first brave step toward becoming whole again.
