13.18 – Being in Love With Someone Who’s Emotionally Unavailable: Loving someone who keeps their emotions locked away can feel like trying to hug a wall—no matter how patient you are, it doesn’t give back warmth. Emotional unavailability often looks like distance disguised as independence. They may care, but fear vulnerability. You find yourself explaining, waiting, or over-giving just to feel seen. Real intimacy requires openness from both sides. You can’t teach someone readiness through devotion alone. Recognizing the difference between affection and avoidance saves energy and heartache. Sometimes love means accepting that someone cannot meet you at your depth. Letting go isn’t giving up—it’s honoring what you need to feel genuinely connected.
