21.11 – Understanding Adrenaline Rushes and Panic Responses Adrenaline rushes are your body’s way of preparing for sudden action, even when the threat isn’t real. You may feel your heart pound, your palms sweat, or your breathing speed up as your body floods with energy. This is your survival instinct switching on, but when it happens too often, it can lead to panic. Recognizing this pattern helps you take back control. Slow, steady breathing tells your brain there’s no danger, and your body starts to calm down. You can imagine the energy flowing through you like a wave that rises and fades, not a storm you’re trapped inside. Over time, you’ll learn that panic symptoms are intense but temporary. Each time you ride them out without fear, you strengthen your ability to stay grounded. The goal isn’t to stop adrenaline but to manage it with awareness and confidence.
