Lesson Overview

9.43 – The Mental Exhaustion of Always Being On Guard: Constant vigilance drains both body and mind. Living in readiness mode burns energy faster than rest can replace it. You may feel tired but unable to sleep, or numb instead of relaxed. Recognizing this fatigue is step one; it’s not laziness, it’s survival burnout. Start adding small recovery breaks throughout your day—slow breathing, stretching, or stepping outside for air. Limit exposure to constant noise or negativity. When your body learns that rest doesn’t equal risk, energy slowly returns. Self-care becomes refueling, not indulgence. The mind needs downtime to rebuild focus and emotion control. Safety includes rest; vigilance without recovery only repeats trauma. Calm isn’t optional—it’s your body’s demand for balance.
