8.39 – What If You’re Relieved Someone Is Gone?: Feeling relief after someone’s death can bring guilt, but it’s more common than people admit. Maybe their illness caused years of stress, or the relationship was painful. Relief doesn’t cancel love—it signals release from constant tension. Acknowledging that truth allows emotional honesty. You can mourn what was good and still feel peace that suffering ended. Both emotions can exist together. Forgive yourself for the complexity of being human. Healing requires room for every feeling, not just the comfortable ones. Accepting your mixed emotions shows emotional maturity and opens the door to forgiveness, both for them and for yourself.
