Lesson Overview

17.29 – Getting to and From School Safely: Safety doesn’t end at the school doors—it begins and ends with your route. Whether walking, biking, riding a bus, or getting a ride, plan your path and share it with someone you trust. Avoid shortcuts through isolated areas, especially in early or late hours. Keep your phone charged and carry emergency contacts written down in case of battery loss. Travel with a friend when possible, and always stay alert—music should never drown out your surroundings. Notice who is around you regularly and trust your instincts if something feels wrong. Inform adults about recurring unsafe behaviors like reckless drivers or harassment. Being proactive about your commute teaches independence and protection. Safe travel habits become lifelong patterns that extend your sense of security beyond the classroom.
