Lesson Overview

22.27 – When You're Asked to Represent Your Entire Race: Being treated like the spokesperson for an entire group is a heavy burden no one can carry fairly. You may feel pressure to always say the “right” thing, act perfectly, or defend people you don’t even know. This responsibility isn’t yours alone; it’s a result of limited representation in schools or workplaces. When it happens, remind yourself that you are one story among many, not a stereotype or an ambassador. You can respond with calm boundaries—say, “I can share my experience, but I can’t speak for everyone.” Educating others with grace while protecting your peace keeps your dignity intact. Over time, more voices will join yours, easing that isolation. True diversity thrives when no one person has to represent a whole culture—when everyone is free to just be human without explanation.
