8.44 – Grieving Your Childhood While Still in It: Sometimes you mourn the version of childhood you never got—a stable home, safe parents, or carefree memories. That’s grief too, even if the loss is invisible. You might feel jealous of others or guilty for being sad about things that “could’ve been.” Acknowledging unmet needs is how you begin to heal them. You can still create moments of safety now, even if they weren’t there before. Self-care becomes re-parenting yourself with kindness. Recognizing this grief allows you to grow into adulthood with awareness instead of bitterness.
